BIRD Engineering BV was established on April 1, 1989

as a spin-off from Delft University of Technology. BIRD Engineering focuses on biotech contract research, specifically in the field of industrial microbiology. The aim is to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry. Research topics focus mainly on White Biotech, replacing petrochemicals by chemicals produced from organic raw materials with micro-organisms. BIRD researches in fermentation and molecular biology.
